An accomplished vocalist and pianist, Clay Whittington is an energetic, passionate entertainer who delivers an unrivaled solo performance. Reflective of that “southern hospitality,” his piano bar shows take on the vibe of a continuous conversation through music and laughter. Filled with lively sing-alongs, games, spirited toasts, and roasts, Clay’s performance style is highly interactive and fun for all ages.
Clay was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina. He studied Music Theory and Composition at East Carolina University and plans to go back in the fall of 2019 for Vocal Performance and Music Therapy.
Clay spent twelve years as music director, choirmaster, and organist in the United Methodist and American Episcopal traditions. During this time, he worked with many different choirs, handbell choirs, and contemporary ensembles. In 2017, Clay worked with Presiding Bishop Michael Curry in directing and leading music for the Diocese of El Camino Real Revival.
From 2016 to 2018, Clay performed in the piano bars for Carnival Cruise Line, and in 2018, achieved Top Performer status. He has performed on 9 out of the 25 ships in Carnival’s fleet.
Clay currently serves as organist and choirmaster for St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, North Carolina.
